The day before…….

By atiasrama

It has been gray skies, some showers, and episodes of strong winds here in Reno since I returned to Reno this last Friday night, Halloween night.  And, in the hours before the polls open tommorrow morning, a strong but fast moving storm is predicted to hit our area (and affect us through early tommorrow).

I put up 7 gotv posters around downtown yesterday.  Completely secured with transparent packaging tape (where it would take quite an effort to rip off).  And, caught a glimpse of the gotv field ops scene at the staging location at 218 California Ave (canvassers for section 2 of Assembly District 27).  Laynette E., Mike K., and Alex H., were there, coordinating the activities of canvassers (most coming from California).  I was there to pick up the gotv posters.

When I was putting up one of these posters at Ace Market, corner of W. 2nd and West, some of these California volunteers stopped to ask me where they could get a good breakfast.  (Mid afternoon.)  They reported to me that they were not finding many people home.  Which was also the same thing I heard from the volunteer coordinators of gotv operations.  Newsflash about this: folks were home, they’re just weren’t answering their doors, lol!

Last night I got a robo call from Joe Biden.  The caller ID displayed the same number as the hotline number on the posters I had just been putting up!  And, the recorded message by Biden also repeated this number, for those who need to find out their polling location.

The phone calls just keep coming in, non-stop.  Thank God for caller ID.  I’ve gotten calls (live ones) from Hawaii and San Luis Obispo in California.  To make sure I go out and vote.  (I had already voted on the 18th!!)

Obviously no stone is being left unturned.
